Why I am running for the Board of Supervisors
Local government isn’t about partisanship—it’s about people. It’s about keeping our taxes low, our farms protected, our schools supported, and our history preserved.
I’m running because Culpeper needs level-headed, experienced leadership—leadership that listens first, avoids unnecessary bureaucracy, and takes a long-term view of what’s best for our county.
- I’ve managed multi-million-dollar budgets and led cooperative businesses owned by everyday working families.
- I’ve volunteered in classrooms, food pantries, civic clubs, and historical institutions.
- I’ve never forgotten that good government starts with serving others—not yourself, not a party, and not an ideology.
We’re facing challenges: rising costs, pressure to over-develop rural land, and a growing disconnect between government decisions and community priorities. I offer a steady hand and a servant’s heart.
Protecting Our Agricultural Heritage
Agriculture is the backbone of Culpeper County. According to the 2017 Agricultural Census, we are home to 682 farms covering 124,390 acres, producing over $48 million in goods annually. Our farms aren’t just businesses—they’re a way of life. They provide open space, support our economy, and shape the rural character we all value.
But this way of life is under threat. Regulations, development pressure, and the loss of young farmers pose serious risks. That’s why I’ve spent my career advocating for agriculture—most recently as General Manager of Culpeper Farmers’ Cooperative and as a long-serving member of the Agricultural and Forestal District Advisory Committee.
With over 40 years in agribusiness, I understand the real-world impacts of policy on farmers. I’ll continue to fight for sensible land use, preservation incentives, and a strong voice for agriculture on the Board.
Fiscal Discipline Matters
I’ve spent my career ensuring co-ops ran lean, efficient, and accountable. Every dollar mattered—because every dollar came from the community. I’ll bring that same principle to county budgeting: eliminate waste, respect the taxpayer, and ask hard questions before spending public money.
Independent, Not Partisan
The rhetoric of national politics is creeping into our local government—and it’s distracting us from real issues that affect real people.
I’m running as an independent because Culpeper deserves representation that’s accountable to residents, not political parties. I believe:
- Supervisors should listen to constituents, not echo party lines.
- Local boards should solve problems, not score political points.
- The needs of Cedar Mountain families should come before ideology.
I’m proud to work across perspectives, find practical solutions, and govern with respect for all. That’s what Culpeper needs—and that’s the kind of leadership I offer.
Let's Work Together!
If elected to the Board of Supervisors, I will:
- Put Culpeper residents first—not parties or politics
- Preserve our agricultural land, history, and way of life
- Protect taxpayers through responsible, transparent budgeting
- Ensure local voices are respected in every decision
Together, we can preserve the Culpeper we love and prepare for a future that honors our past.
Thank you for your support.
